What We Do
A grounded approach to outdoor improvement
Outdoor spaces along the coast ask for a different kind of attention than yards further inland. Wind, salt exposure, and shifting soil conditions all play a role in how a landscape develops over time, and ignoring these factors tends to show up later as uneven growth or drainage trouble. Our team pays close attention to these details from the earliest planning stages, using what we learn about a site to guide every recommendation that follows. Rather than pushing a fixed template onto every property, we adjust our methods to match what a particular yard, garden, or commercial lot actually calls for. This attentiveness is at the center of how we operate.

01.
Site-First Planning
We spend time walking a property and understanding its quirks before drafting any plan. This groundwork helps avoid costly surprises once work is underway.
02.
Seasonal Awareness
Coastal weather patterns shift quickly, and timing matters for planting and grading alike. We schedule work around conditions that give each project the best chance to establish well.
03.
Practical Material Choices
We favor materials that are well suited to salt air and variable moisture rather than options that look good only in a showroom. This keeps long-term upkeep manageable for property owners.

How AK Landscaping came to be
AK Landscaping’s story began with small residential projects around the Ocean Shores area, where our founder first started working directly with homeowners on planting beds and basic yard cleanup. Over time, word of mouth brought more requests, and the scope of the work naturally expanded to include larger yard renovations, drainage corrections, and ongoing maintenance contracts. Throughout that growth, the core focus never changed: understanding coastal conditions well enough to recommend work that would actually hold up. Each new project added to a growing base of hands-on knowledge about how local soil, wind, and moisture patterns behave across different properties. That accumulated experience remains at the center of how the company operates today.
As the range of services grew, so did the team, though we’ve always kept things relatively small and close-knit by design. Rather than scaling quickly, growth has come gradually, driven mostly by returning clients and referrals within the community. This pace has let us maintain a level of familiarity with local conditions that would be harder to keep consistent across a much larger operation. Today, AK Landscaping continues to serve the same coastal community it started with, applying years of accumulated, hands-on experience to each new property. The company’s approach today still reflects those early beginnings: careful attention paid to a handful of properties at a time, rather than volume for its own sake.
